This is the month of Halloween, where bats are a featured animal.  We journeyed to Austin last weekend and watched the bats flying from under the Congress Avenue Bridge once again.  Gayln's women's soccer team WON the Austin tournament!  Writing has been minimal with my commitment to football and teaching art at CBHS.  I finished a Red Tailed Hawk Potrait and it should be on the site this month.  I learned a new skill, silk scarf painting.  I completed an Oriental silk scarf with red and light blue bats flapping with butterflies among flowers and Bonzai trees.

I am currently working on some new collages, and a large surreal watercolor painting involving strange hands, mountains, goblin creatures climbing up a stool, and a mysterious one-eyed lady with large dragonish wings.  I have also completed many surrealistic sketches and I am considering posting them here some time in the future.

I hope by November to get back to attending my writing group meetings at Barnes and Nobles.  Also, I have been invited back, November 7th, at Santa Fe High School.  I am once again participating in the College and Career Fair.  I will have more art on display and feature my books, signing and speaking.  I will have a multi-media display this year.  Hope to see you guys soon.  Thanks for all your support.  Doug Hiser
