Hey folks, This is the last month of 2006 and if you are reading this then at least you're still alive. I hope you are since many of you out there have lost touch with us. School is winding down and our Art Projects are turning out great!
The CBHS Book Club chose my 2006 novel, THE HONEY BEE GIRL, as their book club choice for the Spring Reading and I will attend one of their meetings to answer questions about the novel.
In the Art News :The Arts Alliance at Clear Lake, TAACL, is having their Winter Art Show and I am placing two pen and ink pieces in the show. The winter scene with the lynx, fox, wolf and numerous weasels is one and the other is the Oriental dual ink work of the ibis and the black crowned night heron. Wish me luck.
For those of you interested in short stories, next month, January, in Long Story Short magazine and ezine ( known as one of the top ten Literary Zines in the United States)--my story, The Barefoot Girl, will be published. The Barefoot Girl story takes place in Bacliff, Texas and was written when I observed children jumping off an old broken washing machine onto a bed mattress in a front yard. With such cool imagery the story took on life and a journey in my head.
I have many adventures planned for 2007 and I will keep everyone informed. One note of information that scares me is that I was born in 1957. This means that in only a few months, in 2007, I will turn 50--FIFTY--years old! I can't really wrap my mind around that fact yet.
Thanks to all my friends who support me by reading my books and stories and by appreciating my Artwork. Without you my words would just sit inside closed book covers and never take on life in your imaginations and my art would pile up under the bed. Thank you, Doug Hiser |
