The year 2010 has turned out better than 2009 for me but not so good for our planet, with that oil spill ruining our gulf and coast and marshes.  The sad tragedy of it makes me feel terrible.  So far our area of the Gulf Coast has dodged the major impact of it, but we will all eventually suffer from the devastation to our fragile coastal environment.

Now to brighter news:  Next weekend, June 12th is the Armand Bayou Wildlife Art Show and I have been gearing up and working hard to put on a good show.  The problem with me is that I have TOO MANY wildlife paintings and I have to pick which ones to display.  I've narrowed it down to ONLY 40 !  Good luck with me getting that number down lower.  I really do hope to see some of you there to help me celebrate the 2500 acre wildlife center of Armand Bayou--it is like the LAST SAfe place for animals in the area!

Come out and hear our talks on wildlife observation , Art, and conservation!  There will also be guided hikes through the woods for those interested.  I hope you come out and support what we're doing.  The show also features 3 other artists, Jim Phillips, the wood sculptor who carved animals out of the trees broken by Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Kelly Halbach a great seascape and sea life artist, and Bejat McCracken who paints big beautiful Ecuadorian rainforest flora and fauna.

Sunday, June 13th I will be speaking at the Bay Area Writers League Conference at UHCL, and teaching a writer's workshop!  I LOVE doing this and the workshop is so much fun.  I have been preparing and gathering materials for an exciting and informative meeting.  It will be different than any workshop the writers have ever attended--i guarantee that!

I have more exciting news that I'm holding back.  I'll let you in on that at a later date.  I do have some writing news :  Two Yellow Cats, my short story is being published in Long Story Short next month, and my poem, Wild Rabbits will be published in the November issue of Red River Review.  I also wrapped up my LONG fantasy novel, The Midnight Jungle last month at 110,000 words.  Still no word back from Soft SKull Press, and they still have my mystery novel, The Texas Sugar Pussy Kat Murders.

This summer I might get some time in between vacations to add another wildlife gallery to Art-Escape.com.  I hope everyone has enjoyed my art and my writing the past year --without you guys I'm just speaking to thin air!  Have a great summer 2010!
